Program Notes for Flashcards for DOS:
The Flashcards for DOS program can be started by typing FL and press
[ENTER]. IF you would like to install a clean version of the
Flashcards for DOS program with no Database information please type FL
INSTALL and press [ENTER]
The program does support a mouse.
On-line help is available by pressing [F1].
Database information may be changed and updated.
Using the Program:
When you begin using Flashcards for DOS you will see the startup
logo
screen. To bypass this screen press any key.
The next display will be the main menu as shown below:
Choose Database
Choose category
Run Flashcards
Edit Flashcards (Available for Registered users only)
View User information
Choose Database:
You must first select the Database you wish to work with. All
databases must start with NW and have the extension DBF. When you
select this option, you will see a list of available databases.
If you wish to create your own database, press the INS key. This
will allow you to type the name of the database you wish to create.
Please note that the new database name must conform to the naming
restrictions as described above.
Choose category:
After you have selected a database you must choose the category you
wish to be tested on. Selecting this option from the main menu will
display a list of available categories for the selected database. Just
use the arrow keys to move to the category of your choice then press
ENTER.
Run Flashcards:
Now that you have selected a Database and Category, you can test
you knowledge on the information. When this option is selected, you
will immediately see a screen displaying a question. Type your answer
to the question and press ENTER.
If you have typed the answer correctly, another question will be
shown.
If the computer did not match your answer you will be given the
option to accept the answer, proceed to the next question or stop the
test. Accepting the answer will not count that answer as incorrect.
After all questions have been answered correctly you will be given
the option to re-test on the incorrect answers.
Edit Flashcards:
After selecting a Database you may change the questions and answers
or add your own questions. If you have crested your own database you
may add questions and categories of you choice.
When you first select Edit Flashcards you will see a list of
questions, if available. Use the arrow keys to move through the
questions. When you have located the question you wish to change,
press ENTER. This will display the Add/Change screen. Here you may
add, change or delete any question.
Note: All questions that are grouped into the same category, the
category name MUST be spelled the same. When you are typing the
category you can press F2. This will recall the last category that was
displayed on the screen.
View User information:
After completing one or more tests, you may view your test results.
All information will be stored by your name, the Database name and the
Category. The results will include the number of correct and incorrect
answers. You will also be shown the percentage of correct answers.
There will be two sets correct and incorrect answers. The first is the
cumulative answers for all tests taken with this category. The second
is the last test results for this category. You may change your test
results if you desire.
Remember, you can press F1 at any time for Help.
